Writing is like drawing pictures of stories to be told. Word by word and line by line, the figures are carefully drawn into characters that speak and feel with twisted plots and journeys into chapter realms. And Kirkus Reviews was instrumental in giving me a non-biased review on not only one book, but three books in a series that I am currently writing. They have served as a foundation for my creative work.
As a writer and journalist, I love telling stories. My first book, Quantum Leaps in Princeton’s Place, is a story about the interviews of the oldest people living in Princeton, New Jersey at the time. About several months after the interviews, my daughter had a play date with a new friend. That encounter led to the finding of the original homeowner’s diary from 1912 in the basement of the Princeton mansion.
The mansion, commonly referred to as “The Rosedale House,” happened to have something in common with us. It was a childhood home to one of the people I had previously interviewed. Later in life, this same woman worked as a housekeeper there! From this discovery on, we felt the story should be published in a book. I wrote in a new room of the mansion during each of my daughters play dates.
The sequel novel called, Six Doors Down, was just released in February. The novel continues the first story in Princeton from 1960 to the present. As I write this blog, I am working on the third installment of my series about Princeton called, The Future is My Past, is now released in October 2017.
Kirkus Reviews not only gave me the confidence to continue publishing my writing, but laid the firm foundation for me to have many book signings at great locations including Barnes and Nobles and receive queries about my books for a possible movie. Their support is certainly worth validation as a writer of novels and possibly as a writer of a film! You can purchase all books on amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com, and balboapress.com.
